I've seen a lot of artists I look up to do this exercise. So I figured I would try it out with these nerds!
A NEW COLORING METHOD! My girlfriend (a professional artist) showed me how to use layers! OH HOOOO! So i'm thinking of coloring the other two pictures with the same method.
It's very nice to see a difference in what you make a year ago. Although I still have a lot to learn it's great to see some improvements. There is always more to learn!
Originally their axe was stain glass texture that I used from Pinterest but after finishing the picture I found that someone on that website stole the image without the persons permission! I told the artist about the theft. So I scrapped that version and decided to just use websites that say free on it. So I am going to source the concrete texture I used for Chuarles axe: https://freestocktextures.com/texture/paving-stone-ground,795.html https://media.freestocktextures.com/cache/4c/cb/4ccb431bd1767408403da0f784cc973c.jpg I also used a Palette maker called Paletton-The Color Scheme Designer. The website is paletton.com/ The palette I created for Chuarles is here below: I'm doing one of these for each of the main trio to replace the pictures on the Characters page and to keep practicing colors, shadows, etc. I will put up the palette I created when I am done.
:I still have a lot to learn when it comes to color and shadows. However, just looking at a picture I colored last year, I think I am going in the right direction.
Since I am color blind I decided it's best to use a color palette to help me understand color better. I used this color palette from this website that was very helpful: https://designschool.canva.com/blog/color-tips/ This is the artists info where I got the palette: https://creativemarket.com/SalomeNJ/97342-Hand-drawn-autumn-collectionBonus https://www.behance.net/dengwei1367cd6 I need to add shadow, color their eyeballs, their teeth and their clothes. Also, add a nice color background.
This is just a text post to show that I have not abandoned this blog. I've been working on this story non stop every day and I will be updating more things on this blog. So far I have up to chapter 7 story boarded and I have begun chapter 8.
All in all I have 22 chapters and I have the entire skeleton of the story complete. All I need is to add more meat and continue story boarding. Here's a little sketch (I cheated it was on my twitter). |
