The main predator of the Flacks. These were ideas of how the Impendor would look for the Tropican region. I am planning to make one for each region. The last picture is the design I decided to stick with.
Flack bonding is an essential part of their society and biological aspect of their lives.
A helpmate is the process of a close interpersonal relationship with another flack. Without a helpmate the flack feels hopeless, isolated, rejected, and maladjusted. They tend to be more aggressive and stressed. What does a helpmate do? A helpmate loves unconditionally, is genuine, accepting, trustworthy, respecting, forgiving, dependable, supporting, thoughtful, etc. Think of a built in best friend for life. How did having a helpmate become a biological need? Flacks guardians do not provide much guidance and support emotionally so they get it from their peers. They quickly form bonds with flacks with the same needs. They take care of each other and are said to bond for their entire life. How does each region feel about helpmates? Tundran and Desertians do not find the need for helpmates. Both regions believe it is a weak thing to have helpmates. Tundran society only allows disputes to settle by fights and they are hatched to be fighters. Desertains believe the war happened by being in close proximity of other flacks including other desertians so they began to isolate themselves in pockets across the land. Wetlanders and Tropicans are two tribes that find it necessary to have helpmates. They are so involved in them that they assign them right after they emerge from their cocoon. Wetlanders and Tropicans thrive in groups and it is very important that everything goes smoothly and every one is happy and working well together for the good of the tribe. In the story the main trio go to a mixed institute...What is their policy on helpmates? A helpmate must be registered for emergency situations such as physical/verbal violence, illness, and risky actions. They have solitary rooms set up in the institute for problem flacks to meet up with their helpmates. What if a flack doesn't have a helpmate in the institute? This is where a Watch Flack comes in. They are volunteer based flacks that also do not have a helpmate. The volunteers go through an emotional test before and after the meeting. These flacks are mostly Tundran and Desertian because they do not feel the need to bond with the helpless flack. Due to the biology in all flacks they do feel the urge to help and are there for them for a short time. Due to the short time there is no risk of them being bonded. Now you can write in Flack language called Kenabo. This honestly reminds me when I was a kid. My sister and I would write in secret codes so no one would read our letters smack talking parents, other sisters, and just gossiping. Good times.
1. A common Tundran plant that can thrive due to growing low to the ground to avoid the extreme winds and chill. It's texture feels hairy.
2. A spore that floats everywhere on the planet Andeon. 3. A pod that is on the mountains of Tundra. It absorbs the electromagnetic radiation from the sun. 4. This Tropical weed is poisonous to the touch. 5. The leaves are a delicacy for the Wetlanders. The stem is used for creating clothes. 6. This Tropical plant is used for medicines. 7. Danger! Do not swim in the Blugh! It has adapted to look like a natural hot springs. You can tell the difference by the smell. It has said to smell very bitter to attract flacks and other fauna. 8. This plant is dangerous to other plants it can walk and devour other plants. Legend has said that this plant when very hungry can EAT A FLACK! But that is just stories to scare Tropican flacks from wandering too far from the tribe. Or is it? 9. This is a common seed of the #1 plant in the Tundran land. It has a hard spiky shell to protect it's seeds from being eaten and protects it from being blown away. It's spikes anchor it to a location and will not sprout until the soil has its specific conditions to grow. 10. Common Desert weed. It can be venomonous if it can impale the skin. Desert flack skin is too tough to be impaled. These plants have been used in the war. 11. This scaly plant is from the Wetlands. Its scales protect them from being eaten by any creatures but it's fruit is said to be delicious if you can get past it's scaly protection. Wetlanders make it into a stew. 12. Another mountain pod. It eats spores that land in it's mouth. 13. This tropical plant helps Flacks camouflage. Tropican flacks will flatten their bodies and put up their tails straight up to look like a stem of this plant. 14. This Desert plant looks quite dangerous but it is a plant that can be used as a topical ointment. 15. A wetland weed. 16. This Wetland plant is eerie to say the least. It has "eyes" that detect vibrations and sunlight and moves towards it. It thrives off ultraviolet radiation and electromagnetic radiation from the sun. 17. Little plants that Tundrans eat for snacks. They are bitter to the taste. 18. Crystals! Main source of minerals and high nutrition for the flacks. 19. Used in teas for sleeping issues. 20. A common plant that is used in clothing. 21. This see through plant is a tropical plant that is just there. I've been trying to map out this world and I suggest anyone use this website cause it's the best. You can get a map randomly generated each time and its amazing! Above is how I want the layout of the planet to look like.
It's called the Polygon Map Generation Demo. http://www-cs-students.stanford.edu/~amitp/game-programming/polygon-map-generation/demo.html Edit: Aluminum melts in HCl so this material is not feasible for their composition. Copper seems to have a higher melting point and does not degrade in HCl. So I will be fixing this compositions.
The flacks are made of copper and its notable characteristics are listed below: Copper is a reddish orange, soft metal that takes on a bright metallic luster. It is malleable, ductile, and an excellent conductor of heat and electricity – only silver has a higher electrical conductivity than copper. Copper surfaces exposed to air gradually tarnish to a dull, brownish color. Why doesn't copper dissolve in HCl? Copper doesn't dissolve in hydrochloric acid because it does not oxidize easily and has a positive reduction potential, making it fairly unreactive. Copper is also a noble metal, the series of metals which are not affected by non-oxidizing acids. Resources: http://www.chemicool.com/elements/copper.html http://www.ask.com/science/doesn-t-copper-dissolve-hydrochloric-acid-b36934ee92ffbb0c Andeon looks like a lava based planet due to it's water looking similar to Mafic Lava (pictured on the left) which is composed of high levels of iron and magnesium. However, the planet is a chlorine planet with it's surface covered with hydrochloric acid and its clouds consisting of the same thing. The planet has high metallicity which means that there are more heavy elements with higher melting points in the inner regions. Due to this the color of the planet Andeon will be very different from Earth because of it's atmospheres composition which is mostly comprised of Chlorine, Nitrogen and Oxygen. Below is a picture of how a Chlorine planet looks like: If you're interested in more reads about chlorine's planet check out these sites (This is where I got all of my information) :

An adult flack! This is where they are sexually mature enough to pass on their genes with other adults. It is socially acceptable to pass off their genes with a courter or rival.
Flacks can have multiple courters or rivals for example: Whiskuz of the Zelphian tribe (the tropicans) has five guardians: two rivals, two courters, and one helpmate. In other tribes that may not be the case such as Yuki of the Ero tribe (Desertians). They only have a rival pair as their guardians. Here's the "normal" societal structure of mating: Tropicans: Polygamous: May look down on the flack if they are not with multiple partners. Tundrans: Mostly Monogamous: May bond with different mate after seasons and rival pairings are more likely. Desertians: Depends on the tribe. Wetlanders: Super Duper Monogamous and courter pairs are more likely. Outlanders: Whatever goes. |
